John Sedivy, Ph.D.
Herman C. Bumpus Professor of Biology and Professor of Medical Science
Chair of the Department of Molecular Biology, Cell Biology and Biochemistry
Professor Sedivy conducts research in mammalian cell genetics in which he has developed and pioneered methods for gene targeting of somatic cells. Part of his research program also investigates cell cycle regulation in cancer. His current research has focused on the biology of human aging at the cellular level. Professor SedivyÆs projects currently investigate how telomere shortening as well as telomere-independent stresses cause cellular senescence.
