Juan Sanchez-Esteban, M.D.
Assistant Professor of Pediatrics
Professor Sanchez-Esteban's work revolves around uncovering a way to accelerate lung development to help babies born prematurely. His lab has identified several "receptors", proteins and genes that are activated by stretch. Professor Sanchez-Esteban looks to use this information to help premature infants who suffer long term pulmonary complications. His laboratory is trying to understand how fetal lungs respond to the physical forces within the womb.
