John Modell, Ph.D.
Professor Emeritus of Education and Sociology
Professor Modell's research interests focus on the history of social and behavioral science; sociology of education; sociology of childhood, adolescence and youth; and life course. The question that currently attracts him the most deals with the nature of disciplinary and public knowledge in the social and behavioral sciences. He is currently investigating an aspect of the failed synthesis of the social and behavioral sciences that seemed so promising in the United States in the two decades that followed World War II.
